Byron K. Weathersby, Sr.
Founder/CEO
Byron K. Weathersby, Sr. was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana.
(recently devastated by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita). He spent most of his
childhood in what most New Orleanians would call one of the worst
neighborhoods in the city...the lower Ninth Ward. Literally surrounded by
drugs and violence, Byron was raised by a strong-willed, hard working
mother and shielded by the fervent prayers of his grandparents.
Byron
graduated from the very popular McDonogh 35 Senior High in New Orleans. He joined the Army National Guard, served during "Desert Storm" and later received
a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design from Louisiana State
University on May 19, 1995. The very next day, he married his beautiful
and loving wife, Java Harrell. He went on to work for Jesse Duplantis
Ministries in New Orleans, for a total of 6 years, designing a monthly
magazine and other forms of print media. During this time, Byron and Java
became the parents of two beautiful kids; Byron, Jr. and Jirah Gabrielle
Weathersby. In 2003, Byron started WeathersBee Design; a Graphic Design
firm, which is still operating today.
Byron is a strong believer of
the Word of God and knows that with HIM nothing is impossible. Both he and
his wife served faithfully, for over 10 years, in several areas of
ministry at Household of Faith Family Worship Church International,
pastored by Antoine M. Barriere.
On August 29, 2005, Hurricane
Katrina destroyed almost everything the Weathersby family owned. Packed
with their faith in God, the clothes on their backs and one vehicle, the
family fled to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where they currently reside. With
nothing but time on their hands, all the family could do was pray, believe
God and watch HIM restore everything they lost..."and then some!"
Byron
believes that everything happens for a reason. "Katrina" taught him the
importance of quality family time, a deeper relationship with his wife and
an even stronger relationship with God....Thus, the birth of "Beautiful
Black".
Simply put, "Beautiful Black" is designed to empower
and inspire "us" to trust and believe in "us", in all aspects of life.
It's Time! It's Time! It's Time! Help us in our endeavors to build
stronger communities and in turn, a stronger future for our kids.
